Work
My internship was in electronics production for power supply devices. I worked all together for 4 months about 40 hours a week. I helped in the Automated Optical Inspection section where all the PCBs needed to be checked again before being integrated in the complete module. As I study Electrical Engineering and I had some knowledge in the field of circuit boards, it was a very helpful experience. Moreover, I created an Excel VBA program and checked components in an X-Ray machine. Luckily, I started at 7 am in the morning, so that I had a lot of time in the afternoon
Experience
Since the first day when I was picked up at the airport by an IAESTE member, I felt at home and I really enjoyed the time in Malta. I arrived in the end of May (which was quite early in the outgoing process) together with one other intern, with whom I spent a lot of time together. In July to August, we had a lot of fun together with many parties, festivals and other activities together with the other around 15 interns as well as IAESTE volunteers who were very friendly as well. Not even mentioning all the days at the beaches. Many of my German friends visited me during my stay for holidays, so I could show them around the island and all the same, I was able to see Malta from more than only the touristic view but also from the everyday life. I will definitely come back to Malta one day.
Discover
Malta is a small island with many beaches and tourist attractions: the capital Valletta, the party mile in San Giljan, the medieval fortress of Mdina, many beaches (my favourite one was Golden Bay Beach) and the other two neighbour island Gozo and Comino. Moreover, Malta’s long history really inspired me to learn more about this country. Apart from that, I visited Sicily for a weekend by ferry, which was the closest opportunity to discover another island in the Mediterranean Sea with a similar lifestyle. Unfortunately, you need the plane for other countries, but you can definitely have a very nice time in Malta.
