Work
For a month, I was a part of the university research team about heat pumps and borehole heat exchangers where we tested concrete samples to know which one will be suitable for the next experiments that they will do. The university has its own borehole heat exchangers that supplies heat to one or two buildings during winter, built by their own researchers.
Experience
A month in a foreign country is surely an experience I will never forget. I met the coolest people around the world and we made the most out of our stay in Poland with the help of IAESTE LC, that is for sure. There was never a boring night for me as they filled it with crazy activities. I was nervous about experiencing a culture shock but I didn't! Polish food surely was different but I got the hang of it, and now that I am back in my country, I actually miss it. We also went around other cities in Poland like Warsaw, Katowice, and Gdansk. I enjoyed the beautiful city of Gdansk and the city game helped us explore the main attraction in the place. I loved the country and its rich history, the people I have met, and the whole experience.
Discover
At first, it was difficult for me to see the importance of the work I did because we do not experience winters in my country but my supervisors taught me that their research is actually more than what it seemed to be. It inspired me to continue my path of study in the direction of geology and all things related. This internship also gave me a very different perspective I will never attain anywhere else. I realized that our decision affects all things that will follow through and we will have to own it so I learned to always be prepared and wise about it.
