Work

My work here is about food safety in food products. As Brazil is known for its food production and livestock it was really effective to work in such a field. My research was to estimate the shelf life of packed pork sausage. I had to perform microbiological analysis for its determination. The professors were really cool. I had experienced professors in the department to guide me and a well-equipped laboratory. It was really fun to learn in a cool and relaxed environment.

Experience

Talking about my accommodation I was lucky enough to live with a sweet family and not in a Republica. So I had the love and care of them. They made me feel like 'my home away from home'. Brazilians are really friendly and fun-loving persons. I met many people from different countries and developed a good friendship that I am sure would last a lifetime. Weekends were meant to travel and I visited places like Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Capitólio, Virgínia, Ouro Preto. The food was completely different from that of India yet I loved them. Stroganoff, Pastel, Pão de Queijo, Brigadeiro are my favourites and I miss them.

Discover

This is my second time outside India and this trip is more special to me because this is my first solo trip to a foreign country and therefore is a totally different experience. I learnt about the people, their culture, their way of living which is absolutely different from that of India. The experience that I had helped me have a clear idea about my future goals. I learnt how to be independent, strong, take decision by myself and to use the freedom given to me in the right way. I must say that this internship is a life-changing experience for me. I learnt the importance to look around the world standing outside from my own cultural bubble it really gave me a beautiful view of our world like never before. I feel that every student should do an exchange program in different countries not just for academic knowledge but also to experience different cultures and practices that are different from their own, to travel, meet new people from across the world and live the dream. My heart full thanks to IAESTE-India and IAESTE Brazil for all the lifetime memories created here.
