I lived in the dormitory with local students. It is not the most comfortable place to live, but it was very good for me. The constant lack of electricity was a bit annoying first, but it taught me how lucky we are back home with our reliable system. For weekends, we usually went to Benin City, because that is a better city to be in. Sometimes we participated in planned trips, or we were just hanging out in Benin City. I think the best place was Idanre hills, it was one of the best places I've ever been to. I really liked the food as well. Nigerian food is very spicey and mainly consist of rice, cassava, beans, plantain, meat and fish. Nigerians also eat a lot of bread, but the bread was not the best in my opinion, it is just too sweet. Luckily enough, there is a mall in Effurun where we could by quite good french bread (and almost everything, which you can in an europen shop). In FUPRE there are a lot of local women (mamas) selling home cooked meals which are very cheap (like 1 euro for a full meal), and very good.

This internship really changed a lot of things inside me. I got much more aware what is important in life, and I learned appreciate much more what I have. Since this internship I can handle difficulties in life much easier, because I got an insight about real difficulties in life, and I can always see my problems less serious.
